About Me
Jim Sherman LCSW
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. I worked as Production Supervisor for General Motors and as an Industrial Engineer for General Dynamics. During that time, I volunteered with agencies to be a companion for those who were at the end stages of life. This experience inspired me to make a career move into Social Work. I obtained a Master’s in social work and a Master’s in Business, which started the beginning of a parallel process of being of service to others,
through my work as a Social Worker as well as growing my real estate investment business.
I have worked for a number of Social Services agencies including Child Protective Services (CPS), San Diego Children’s Hospital, Desert Hospice, Desert AIDS Project and the VNA Hospice. After many life changing experiences, I decided to go into private practice.
My commitment has always been and continues to be available to those who are struggling by walking with them in their time of need. My personal journey is a continuous one and it is defined by learning and growing which allows me to be more present for others.
I have extensive experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds including the LGBTQ+ community.
