My Philosophy
Are you are at a crossroad in your life where you want to make changes, but you find yourself stuck with behavioral patterns that are not helpful? Maybe you are at a point where you want more from your life and you are ready to create the changes you want.
Each person’s therapeutic journey is different. Yours may include in-depth work in certain areas like personal transformation, grief and loss issues, transitions in your health or career, relationship difficulties, developing confidence, or overcoming anxiety and/or depression.
My area of strength is to bring guidance and harmony to your mind, body, and spirit as we embark on your journey to work towards your goals.
This process will take time and effort on your part, and it may include exploring how you identify with limited beliefs, many of which originated in your childhood or through difficult life experiences. Through my guidance, you will learn how to explore your life with kindness, curiosity and compassion. Most importantly, you will be empowered to make new choices, from a place of conscious awareness, as you develop greater ability in observing your thoughts patterns and behaviors.
During our time together, you will be provided with a safe and supportive environment where, I will utilize a combination of different therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Training, Client Centered Therapy, Problem Solving Techniques, Coaching and Exploration of your Inner Child.
If you are ready to gain greater insight and understanding of how you operate in the world and strive to be the best version of yourself, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

I’ve been working with Jim now for over six years, both through video conferencing and in person. What impressed me from the beginning of our relationship were his kindness, patience, and humor, all of which allowed me to feel and trust that we were in a safe and grounded space.
He has extensive clinical experience in cognitive therapy, and I came to him with issues of chronic depression and anxiety. Jim has helped me hugely in modifying and managing both of these.
I’ve been working with Jim Sherman for about 3 years. I came to him at a very low point in my life but with his gentle yet direct approach I’ve been able to honestly face and address the things holding me in depression. I’m thankful for my biweekly sessions as they help me talk through my BPD triggers and keep me grounded to face the daily struggles of life. I highly recommend him.
There are people who touch our lives at certain points on our life’s journey. We are forever changed and forever grateful for having met them and for the growth they have helped us to achieve. I have met Jim Sherman about four years ago, he made major improvements in my life.
He is genuinely cares about his clients, he is very professional and brilliant man.I truly feel that so much of the success in my personal and also my business life has come from Jim’s help. I wouldn’t say enough about Jim Sherman, he is a wonderful therapist, and I would recommend him all my family and friends.
Jim Sherman is a remarkable therapist, to be sure, but only because he’s a remarkable person first. He knows how to show you the real, unvarnished truth of whatever you’re struggling with, and he does so with abundant kindness, patience, and respect. Not only did Jim give me the tools to overcome many of my own self-imposed obstacles, but he also taught me how to effectively manage the things I couldn’t change. It should be noted, though, that choosing Jim as a therapist means leaving your BS at the door. The more honest you are with him, the quicker he can help you through whatever is troubling you.
My wife of 27 years died recently, and I was an emotional train wreck. I was experiencing daily anxiety attacks and an overwhelming sense of grief and helplessness. I also lost 16 pounds within a matter of weeks. In desperation I reached out to James Sherman. My immediate phone call to Jim was met with reassurances that I would be ok, that he would get me through this difficult period. Shortly thereafter I started seeing Jim weekly and I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. The anxiety attacks stopped, and I began to deal
with my grief. Throughout the process Jim was always there comforting me, letting me explore the roots of my insecurities, and allowing me to step back and see the big picture. Jim recommended several books and provided a pamphlet on grief. My sessions only lasted a few months, a testament to his expertise, for I finally declared that I was pretty sure I could sail the ship on my own. For anyone facing a personal crisis it is my suggestion to
reach out to James Sherman, my miracle worker.
James Sherman is that rare and ever sought out combination of professional, approachable, and result focused. He is an expert in deep listening, well- versed in methodologies tailored to his clients and comes to his craft with a joy and confident commitment that is a hallmark of a true healer. He encourages, supports, and celebrates the work and progress his clients are inspired to create. James Sherman is a credit to the craft of being present as clients come into their own lives, fully and responsibly.
I began my therapy Jim when I was having some challenges in my relationship, Jim’s ability to listen and respond with intention led me to realize that I needed to make some profound changes with my partner. Jim helped me to see patterns that had become unhealthy and shared with me some valuable tools to help me navigate thru these difficult conversations, so I would not repeat past behaviors and ultimately enabled me to break free of the negative loop that I had grown so accustomed to. In later sessions he was there when I had to have another difficult conversation with an extended family member by phone, his support during this time was above and beyond what I would have expected in a session.
Jim has a sincere ability to work with his patients to help them achieve their desired goals and navigate thru some of life’s more challenging times. I will continue to see Jim even though I am thru my initial crisis point and I am confident in recommending him to anyone who is going thru a difficult time in their life.
